We’re very pleased to say that we have received a further grant – this time from the King Charles III Charitable Fund.
The Fund is giving us £1000 a year for three years to support FCA’s community engagement work with schools. The workshops are much enjoyed by the children and support schools’ work on the National Curriculum Key Stage 2 topics of the Anglo-Saxons and Local History. In them, the children get to handle and discuss items found during the digs, learning about their local history and about how archaeology can tell us about the past.
As each workshop costs around £250, this grant is a very valuable contribution which we very much appreciate.
Of course, we aim to undertake far more than four workshops a year (we did 10 in 2025) so the need to raise funds will continue.
