We are thrilled to announce that a partnership of the University of Reading and Friends of Cookham Abbey has been awarded £249,755 by The National Lottery Heritage Fund for a new three-year project, Cookham Abbey Connects. Of the total grant, £63,148 will come to FCA over three years.
The project will share the exciting findings from the Cookham Abbey excavations through inclusive community activities, workshops, a travelling roadshow, and a digital exhibition hosted by the University of Reading.
Aimed at reaching new and diverse audiences, including children, young people and those who feel archaeology is “not for them”, the project will engage at least 1,000 people directly and thousands more online. This major award marks an important milestone for FCA and builds on its growing programme of community engagement since becoming a charity in 2023.
