Dates will be set soon for the University of Reading’s Field School at Cookham Abbey in 2026 with 4 weeks of digging by first year students and volunteers.
Tours will be available during the dig.
Over 1900 people came to a Friends of Cookham Abbey site tour during the 2025 dig season. Feedback from visitors was overwhelmingly positive and donations from visitors raised over £3,900. The money was put towards the cost of the conservation of metal finds, analysis of wood artefacts from the well and primary school workshops
