We thought it was time we updated you on the progress of our crowdfunding campaign.
See below for the latest news on how it is all going but first a reminder that, if you haven't yet had a chance to watch the Cookham Abbey episode of Sandi Toksvig's Hidden Wonders on More4, you can find it on catch up or at the button below:

The Latest Numbers
We’re really pleased to say that since the launch of the campaign in mid-November, we have raised almost £6,000. Together with separate donations, the total raised is almost £9,000 - three quarters of our target. This rate of progress is much faster than we had hoped and is enabling us to press on with our research.
There have been a small number of very generous large donations, but most donors have contributed in the region of £25. Your donation, whatever the amount, will help us reach our target and let us hear these Voices from the Past.

A "Thank You" from Us
People who have given £25 or more will receive a specially designed print which our Artist-in-Residence Phyllida Shelley is preparing. Printed on high-quality art paper, we aim to send these to donors from February onwards.
In the Spring, the first 20 donors to have contributed £100 or more will be invited to a special behind-the-scenes tour of the osteoarchaeology lab at the University of Reading, hosted by Professor Mary Lewis who is leading the scientific analysis of the remains of these early people of Cookham. Mary will be able to show the work which is being funded by your donations. We still have places on the tour.

What Next?
More details on the research we would like to undertake can be found on the
crowdfunding page. The generosity of you, our supporters, has meant that we have already been able to start the first phase of the scientific analysis. We expect to be able to update you on that work in the New Year.
Whilst this is a scientific analysis, we always remember that these are people who once lived in Cookham, and their remains are treated with respect and dignity. We are asking them questions about their lives in Cookham 1300 years ago. Your help will let us hear their answers - Voices from the Past.
