Excavation at the University of Reading’s dig at Cookham Abbey is now well underway and the site tours are proving popular. These are some of the Week 2 highlights:

These pieces of a cooking pot lay undisturbed where they were thrown for around 1200 years.

Community | Tour Report

We had 328 visitors to the site on booked guided tours during week 2, plus a group from Maidenhead Catenians.
We are down to 48 places left on our tours during weeks 3 and 4. Of the 15 remaining tours, all but three are fully booked. Please book as soon as possible for the remaining places.
Next Saturday 2nd August, 2:00 pm we have a special tour and activities for Young Archaeologists (8 - 16 years). This can be booked at Young Archaeologists at Cookham Abbey
